I am a big believer in keeping ourselves safe and nurturing our wellbeing, especially when it comes to social media.

So here are 3 tips to help support your mental health when using Instagram to grow your business:

1. Mute or unfollow accounts that feel triggering for you. By muting them (they won’t know) you can always unmute them when your mindset changes.

2. Find accounts who share your ideal audience and who you genuinely enjoy and like - engage with them, chat, make plans for a collaboration. You will get to see more of each other’s content.

3. Make sure you have some total switch off time by going into your settings and turning off notifications between specific hours. I do this and am thankful for the headspace.

Yesterday was a reminder of just how important it is to get out when you run your own business from home.

I went to the IWD @digita1women event at @curiousbrewery yesterday - It was a great event with a panel of 7 impressive founders.

I loved chatting with Vardeep of @thebrandingfox who was also one of the panelists and seeing the lovely Ann of @thepaportal who is fab to work with as well as dog walking!

The discussions ranged from -

🌟The challenges that women face - that men don’t. Of course this includes the inevitable HORMONES and their impact on women navigating business challenges and their impact on consistency and confidence.

🌟How we as women have more natural tendency for empathy, and will mostly have to try to juggle business responsibilities with being the main parent - having to drop things in order to fulfill parenting responsibilities and the impact of this on our emotions, and delivery of business for clients.

🌟They spoke about Imposter syndrome - whether we like it or not, it’s real …. Words of wisdom to remember, ‘You are the expert if you know more than the people in the room.’ ( it’s along these lines please excuse my phraseology)

🌟Celebrating and talking about both the ‘wins and the woes’. Sharing, can do wonders as there is often someone else who has been where you are now and they can help you navigate challenges. And remembering to celebrate the wins 🎉 it’s SO easy to move on to the next thing on your list and forget how far you have come and what you have achieved no matter how small or big.

It was educational and also inspiring to hearing from three members of the panel who all have a Chronic illness - hearing their truth and their challenges as business owners was enlightening and important to understand.

Well that was fun😁 Oh my god, I loved getting

Well that was fun😁

Oh my god, I loved getting my music on super loud and dancing in the sunlight ….

Some days don’t feel so good … sitting at my desk for too long, over-thinking.

So even although I had loads to do, I took myself out for a dog walk (and boogie) in the sunshine!

And wow, it really helped to lift the spirits 😁

What do you do to cheer yourself up on days like these?

Little Tips:

I almost didn’t follow my own advice - but in the end I got my camera out - put it on cinematic mode and filmed this … yup, felt a bit strange but then I just had fun as the music was so fab😁 remember everything is B- Roll right😊

Audio:
This isn’t a trending audio track that is under 10k. It won’t provide the same reach, so not so many people will see it….. and that’s OK. Don’t feel like you always have to use the best ‘green arrow’ trending audio .. if the audio is right for your vibe and it feels right use it BUT be mindful if you never using trending audio you’d be doing yourself a disservice - allow yourself to be ‘real’ and remember to have fun!

And if you are having one of ‘those’ days, and dancing won’t do it, I am here for you🧡

The truth is that people are super busy and get distracted ALL the time ….

Whether they are ….

feeling ground rush when planning work in the lead up to Easter holidays

busy trying to work out the best way to support their children through endless rounds of mock exams (snacks is the top tip I heard!)

prioritising getting out in the sun rather than scrolling (I don’t blame them!)

busy planning family holidays or working out how to support aging loved ones whilst keeping all the other balls in the air too!

(My attentions have been taken up with new courses and updating existing knowledge … it’s hard to make time to work IN and ON the business!)

People’s timings also change and ebb and flow with the seasons, school holidays, politics ….

So just saying …. don’t worry if your reach and engagement are wavering …. It’s natural and everything comes full circle … keep on keeping on and consistency will win the day.

Here’s my take on what to leave behind and take with you during the rest of 2025

4 things to leave behind…

1. Posting Without Strategy: Random posts = random results. If you’re not planning ahead, you’re holding your growth back.

2. Overly Polished Content: Perfect grids are out. People crave real, relatable, and unfiltered moments. Show the behind-the-scenes!

3. Ignoring DMs & Comments: Engagement isn’t just about likes—it’s about building real conversations. Reply, connect, and nurture your community.

4. Fearing Change: Instagram evolves fast—so should you! If you’re avoiding video, collaborations, or new features, now’s the time to dive in.

4 things to take into Spring…

1. Storytelling First: Your audience connects with you, not just your product or service. Share your journey, why you do what you do, and behind-the-scenes moments.

2. Video is Non-Negotiable: Reels, Lives, and short-form videos continue to dominate. If you’re not showing up on video, you’re missing out.

3. Collaborate & Build Community: Whether it’s cross-promotions, guest Lives, or shared content, connections will grow your reach faster than ever.

4. Insights-Driven Growth: Check your analytics. What’s working? What’s not? Pivoting based on data will save time and bring better results.

❌The number of people following you is not an indicator of income / success.

Focusing on how many followers you have is unhelpful and It won’t automatically enable you to make more sales.

🌟More followers = can mean lower engagement rate
🌟More of the wrong followers = no increase in sales and more unfollows to come (not great indicators for the algorithm)

❓So what should you do instead?

😊Focus on the people you have right there in front of you.

- Understand what their needs are, and work out how you help them and help to solve their problems and answer their needs.

- Then identify key people, companies and influencers who SHARE your audience and dedicate time to engaging (genuinely) with relevant people and other relevant content in your feed.

- Dedicate time to deepening your connection and relationship with the right existing connections.

- Interact and respond, ask questions, reply to the people who are commenting on your posts.

Key points:⬇️

1. Get clear on your target audience what their needs are and how you meet those
2. Decide on an engagement strategy and stick to it
3. Work out when your audience are on-line and post at that time
4. Be consistent in your posting

As the old saying goes … a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!

Focus on what you already have and nurture it rather than looking outward and seeking more.

Be kind to yourself and remember, more followers does not necessarility = more revenue.

- How do they spend their Sundays?
- What sort of mindset are they in?
- How can you help to make their life or week ahead better in some way?

Sundays are often associated with self-care so if you working within the holistic and wellbeing space, a regular Sunday post could be a great addition to your content plan.

SAVE these ideas to use as prompts and act as a reminder that Sundays can be a great day to post, with less competition and an audience with more time and focus to consume your content.

Content re-purposing, that’s what!

The only people to see ALL of your content is YOU!

Its ok to re-use that B-Roll film from last year

Its ok to use that video of the sunset 3 years ago

Its ok to re-use the images you used in a carousel a month ago

A top tip is to create a folder in your photo albums and call it EVERGREEN - place all your the video clips in there that you can use over and over again, so you will never be stuck for content.

Changing headlines, hooks, caption copy and call to actions is enough to freshen it all up.
